St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center (SJH) the oldest hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and the largest institution between Texas and California. It is a 900 bed private, non-profit tertiary care hospital associated with Catholic Healthcare West.

St. Joseph's physicians perform approximately 6000 births per year with the backup services of a Level 3 intensive care nursery. The structure of our program allows the student to gain substantial experience by caring for service, non-profit, and private patient populations. St. Joseph's is committed to a high quality educational experience and academic excellence.

The Department of Ob/Gyn is an active and growing department that is building on a core of dedicated employed faculty physicians. The current divisions include General Ob/Gyn, Advanced Gynecologic Surgery (oncology and pelvic surgery) and Maternal Fetal Medicine. In addition, we are in the process of developing a division of genetics. Students rotating at St. Joe's are encouraged to be pro-active in experiencing hands on learning under the direct supervision of residents and attendings, which has resulted in a long history of providing the very best medical educational experience.
