Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center has served as a leader in healthcare in the Southwest since 1911. It is the flagship, tertiary care, 659 bed hospital, not-for-profit of Banner Health which has twenty-one facilities throughout Arizona and other western states. Banner “Good Sam” is located in the heart of Phoenix on a 60-acre campus including a modernistic 12-story inpatient complex and state-of-the-art diagnostic, emergency, ambulatory and support services. We are a major teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona's College of Medicine and an integral component of its expanding University of Arizona, Phoenix Campus. Our Medical Center's academically oriented clinical setting with over 250 residents and fellows, medical students, other healthcare trainees and an excellent hospital-based faculty, fosters a very stimulating and rewarding educational atmosphere. Besides being a nursing Magnet Facility, several of our physicians and programs are listed among the “best” in the U.S. In fact, U.S. News and World Report voted Banner Good Sam one of the top 50 OB/GYN Departments in 2006. The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is approved for 28 residents, has forty-two core clinical faculty, over 100 attending physicians, and oversees over 6,000 deliveries and 3,000 gynecologic procedures annually. The depth and breadth of this discipline from high risk obstetrics, advanced laparoscopic and a simulated training center placing this institution in the vanguard of this specialty.
